This past weekend was my nephews super hero birthday party. It was so much fun! The kiddos got to decorate their own super hero capes and everything! My sister is so detail oriented. She actually planned my wedding for me. She has amazing talent. I helped her with the sewing/digital work/photography but she did everything else from scratch. It all came together nicely!
I wanted to give my sister an opportunity to share with you some of the details of the party. I know the super hero party theme is big right now, what with The Avengers coming out soon (eek!).
HAPPY 1ST BIRTHDAY GAUGE! Your child's first birthday should be a big celebration. My son has been through a lot during his first year between medical issues and everyday life. I am very Thankful to be blessed enough to throw him a big party to celebrate his first year of life!
I made the "1000 TON" weight by simply duct taping two bouncy balls from Walmart to a cardboard roll. I then painted the balls black, and used the white acrylic squeeze paint to write the "1000 TON" on them. The "BOOM" sign (in the background) was made for the kids to hold while taking pictures. I decorated computer paper, cut it out, and glued it to cardboard.
I made each sign for the hot dogs by hand. It would have been a lot easier if I would have used photoshop, but I liked the old imperfect comic book look it gave to them. They all said different things such as, "Wonder Dog" "MMMM" and "Yum". I just decorated each of them on computer paper, cut them out, and hot glued them to toothpicks.
like my sister said she did the sewing on the cape and also helped me with the design on photoshop. Get the dark fabric transfer paper from any craft shop, follow the directions on the package, and that will tell you how to print the logo onto the transfer paper and iron it on.
The telephone booth was made for the kids to change into their SUPER OUTFITS to go fight crime! It is a painted water heater box, after I painted it red I cut the windows out, then I painted the black around the windows and at the top of the box. I then printed the word "Telephone" out and used a glue stick to apply it to the box. For the windows I duct taped saran wrap to the back of it to look like glass. After cutting the door into the box, all that was left was to paint a piece of cardboard black and hot glue it as a handle.
The super city looked amazing! It was so much fun and made for great pictures! I even used it as the background for his invitation photos that my sister took. The building are made of painted boxes and cut computer paper for the windows. I cut them differently to ,once again, give it the old imperfect comic book look. The black background is a 100ft roll of plastic you can get a craft shop for $15. All we did was pin it to the wall. We then taped the clouds that I cut out of computer paper above the buildings.. and voila! You have an amazing super city!!
I made a timeline of my sons first year of life so that we could share his biggest moments with everyone at the party such as his first Holidays, first steps, and the all the hospital visits and surgeries he had to go through. I hung it on hemp rope with red, yellow, and blue clothes pins that I painted, & decorated construction paper. This once again would have been a lot easier with photoshop but I did it all by hand.
These yummy treats are chocolate dipped marshmallows cover with sprinkles. My sister made the "POP" signs on photoshop for me. I printed them up, cut them out, and hot glued them to toothpicks. super easy & super cute!!
These are capes I made for the kids to decorate, wear for pictures, and take home as party favors. I got the tutorial off of Pinterest here. I got foam stickers and the squeeze acrylic paint from acraft shop for the kids to decorate them with. I also had a package of masks for the kids to decorate and it came with everything you need inside the package.
I made these juice signs from construction paper and markers. they say "Power Juice" "Yum" "Gulp" "Slurp" "Super Juice" & "hulk juice". All I did was hot glue the signs to straws. I believe its the little details that make a party!
I personalized the party a little more by having my son, husband, and I color posters of super heroes and hang them behind the cake table. it was really cute!!
So There ya have it people! My sister is amazing. So detail oriented.
FREEBIE TIME!
Here is the link to the "pop" signs you see on the marshmallows above. This is an 8.5x11 size file to print on normal computer paper. Cut out, and glue as instructed.
I would love to see your hero parties! Please leave a link in the comments below, if you have photos available for online viewing. Happy Planning!
Peace and L<3Ve!
